The True Americans

Paul Robeson , before he was a global superstar from 1925 to 1950, was easily the greatest football player in America. Rutgers first All American while achieving Phi Beta Kappa. Yet, the College Football Hall of Fame erased and wiped his record from the record books in 1955 and did not restore his name ANYWHERE in the record books until 1995 due to heavy protest. Some of the most reactionary people in the US ruling class are part of that same sports world that destroyed Robeson still unparalleled legacy as an athlete and scholar. At Penn State this past week we saw who and what some of them truly are: liars, low lifes, rapists and paedophiles.

THIS IS NOT ME ! THIS PHOTO IS NOT SUPER AMANDA

I've been asked often if photo this is me and it is definitely not. This girl's picture is on website for a Colorado photo studio. She is much smaller and far more elegant, petite and low slung than I am. The only near topless pics online are on Boobpedia and all are shots of just my torso.

MARJAN

The pain and the rage I feel about zoo animals in war torn areas unparalleled. I'm angry about many things and I'm happy about more but the thought of innocent captive animals abused, starved and tortured to death  creates such turmoil in my mind that I can barely process it. Most of the pain was based around feeling powerless (as in Sarajevo when all the animals slowly died and ate each other and the zookeepers were all killed by snipers) yet now, with the internet, they are no longer left to languish if at all possible. We donate money and brave people arrive to save them.

WE SEE THE MOMENT OF RESCUE AS IT HAPPENS LIVE.

The people who risked their lives at The Tripoli Zoo these past few months restored my belief that humanity will evolve and save itself. The zoo-keeper in Kabul who gave his life and the keepers who are still their risking everything in both Kabul and Iraq instil within me a feeling an optimistic feeling about others I thought I had lost around the age of 13. Marjan's story goes beyond the realms of fantasy and fiction to prove that you never give up no matter what.
Please donate to the Tripoli Zoo -even a few quid helps.

W.E.: Madonna's 36 million Dollar Anti-Semitic Maxi Pad Commercial

"I had just told them their dog had been run over by car. Actually not a bad photo considering what raving anti-Semites they both were."
- Richard Avedon (he was joking about the dog)

I can't think of two better examples of human refuse than Nazi sympathizers Wallis Simpson and Edward. Wasted looking, colonialist, Ayn Rand style nobodies who represent nothing of value to cultural history. Anne Sebba and Imogen Fox of The Guardian write, "Wallis attended many fashion shows in the front row, cultivating her favourites: Givenchy, Schiaparelli, Dior and Mainbocher..."  Blah blah blah...Who fucking cares? The few reviews of Madonna's cack film W.E. which attempt to side step her abysmal failure are all coming from that same world of "we must dress, eat and fuck to impress others" and what a sad culturally illiterate world of ass kissing Net-a-Porter sheep it is if you are a "Madonna Defence-Bot".  Rar, rar rar "reinvention", dar dar, "she has sold more records than anyone else" bah bah bah "she's the Queen and you are just jealous of her money, fame etc" bah bah etc. Madonna fans are all the same lame sheep who all spew the EXACT same five excuses for her failures and the fact she'll never be an artist or be seen as singularly talented.

Ventia Thompson's wretchedly inept review was perhaps the saddest and came off like Rachel Zoe meets Gunga Din. Thompson writes: "Madonna is able to send out a message loud and clear to young women: stop feeling sorry for yourselves and get a life... Amid the endless whingeing and empty rhetoric of the “feminazis” that seem to dominate all debate on women’s issues, this is certainly a welcome point of view..

But who cares about "getting a life girls" when John Galliano and Leni Riefenstahl are thanked in the credits like sorority sisters during rush week at U of Dachau?  Can you compete with that? You try to fit in with that crowd and you'll get sold out faster than you can say H.U.A.C. And all those "hairy feminazis" who have not been seen since 1994 on the Mills College campus? Well they must annoy the shit out of Ventia and Madonna with all their hatred of  lingerie for children and stripper poles for girl scouts.

People who live off of clothing labels, expensive jewellery, gaudy luxury and emptiness represent some of the lowest and least evolved intelligence on the planet, that's why fascism as a flirtation is a perfect fit for them-it is just so trendy and blithely shocking. Dickens, Twain, Paul Robeson, Sinclair Lewis, Veblen, Reich, Dorothy Day, Harper Lee-THOSE are the geniuses and the outsiders and THEY wrote words that pissed upon that kind of gross, self indulgence.

"The King suggested a morganatic marriage, where the King would remain King but Wallis would not be Queen, but this was rejected by Baldwin and the Prime Ministers of Australia and South Africa."

Wow, you know if two of the most arcane, backwards racial separatist governments of the 20th century think your marriage is doomed then you're really screwed. I'm sure Madonna and her fans would think it is "PC" to point this out. What fucking idiots gave Madonna the money to make a pile of crap that glorifies this scum anyway?

And if Ken Russell were to be given 36 million dollars to make a film on Wallis Simpson?

You'd get the TRUTH not some 1980s Reagan era version putting flowers on the graves of Bitburg bullshit. The BBC Ominbus film about Richard Strauss, "Dance of The Seven Veils" is still banned by decree of Strauss' descendants until the public domain expires in 2019 because Ken Russell is not a chicken shit conformist  protecting Vichy/Weimar/Dior scum like Madonna is while all the sheep claim she is "brave" and an "outsider."

In his great 1.5 star review of W.E., Guy Lodge wrote: "The irony of thanking two prominent alleged Nazi sympathizers, mere minutes after “W.E.” goes to manful if unconvincing lengths to discredit any suggestions that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor had similar leanings, is incidental, and perhaps a little cheap to pick on, but merely one small symptom of Madonna the Auteur’s astonishing lack of self-awareness"

INCIDENTAL lack of self-awareness MY ASS!  It is called  the ABJECT STUPIDITY that accompanies vile narcissism. Guy, don't make the mistake that the other Guy did; Madonna knows EXACTLY what she's doing.

Here are few choice nuggets clearly demonstrating the paucity of Simpson's values:

"Wallis and Edward married one month later on 3 June 1937 at the Château de Candé, lent to them by Charles Bedaux, who later worked actively for Nazi Germany in World War II"

"The Duke and Duchess lived in France in the pre-war years. In 1937, they made a high profile visit to Germany and met Nazi leader Adolf Hitler at his Berchtesgaden retreat. After the visit, Hitler said of Wallis, "she would have made a good Queen"

"However, Wallis hated Nassau, calling it "our St Helena", in a reference to Napoleon's final place of exile. She was heavily criticised in the British Press for her extravagant shopping in the United States, undertaken when Britain was enduring privations such as rationing and the blackout. Her racist attitudes towards the local population (she called them "lazy, thriving niggers" in letters to her aunt) reflected her upbringing"

I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE. How many Nazi sympathizers is Madonna into? Madonna via her brown nosing turkey of a film and her own wretched words, is smugly defending, white washing and glorifying this crud. She sees Wallis as some new civil rights style beacon for feminists who hate feminists; "much maligned" figure who is "misunderstood and victimised." A white supremacist approved bespoke, Cartier encrusted version of  Ayn Rand (or just a homely facsimile of Eva Peron like madonna herself was).

Speaking of victims? If you can't see by now that Madonna, the New Age colonialist who magically  never did build  "all those schools and colleges"  in Malaiwi that she promised and who in SPIN Magazine 1994 called Black men "the ones who treated me worse than anyone else I've ever dated" while carefully leaving out the fact that Sean Penn was arrested twice for beating the living shit out of her along with all her other  fascist , Hydrangea phobic crap is nothing more than a talentless media generated cash cow  then fuck off back to cleaning Anna Wintour's bidet for free.

I do not want to know your pathetic ass.

Russell Brand , The London Riots and The Death of Amy Winehouse

Update January 27th 2012. I was very crude and unfair in my assessment of Russell Brand in the previous version of this post. The Sun featured it on their blog home page and I had a few dozen comments. Truly, I am very sorry to have judged Brand just a tad too harshly because in retrospect I'm not qualified to make many of the assertions I did. He knows about addiction and I do not. My essay has been re-edited to reflect that lack of balance on my part. -Super Amanda

Brand definitely understands what addiction is and why it is like an incurable disease for so many.

Amy's Winehouse root problem was bi-polar depression and abandonment by men-drugs were an after effect. Take away the drugs she'd still have been on a death wish until love sorted her out. Male artists have women who will do anything for them, walk around like preprogrammed puppets in their football kit, and be there till the end and NEVER walk away or leave etc etc. Female artists don't get that luxury as most men are too selfish or too sensible to live in the shadow of a tortured genius and care for them when they malfunction-which in her case was sometimes daily. That's why George Jones, the legendary country and western star is still going strong today despite nearly dying from alcoholism at one point and yet his ex-wife, the near mythic Tammy Wynette, died young under very suspicious circumstances, used for her money and exploited. Russell Brand misses that but then most people do. His mentally vacuous wife's border line intelligible opinion on Amy Winehouse rang of self aggrandizement. Amy wasn't even buried yet and there's Katy Perry smothered in slap on Good Morning America, grinning away about how ''grateful'' she is Brand is sober with her vacant eyes.

Alex James wrote a lovely piece which veered away from the "look at me" failings of Brand but sadly men simply do not stand by talented female artists. I'm sure as Blur's bassist, James could have had many a few great women who truly loved him caring for him, helping him get clean and sober and then still stick around and love him for life. Amy and nearly all woman artists do not get that same kind of devotion from men and they die alone. Gay men might be there to love them perhaps but rarely straight men. Amy wanted a loving partnership, a best friend and a protector to stand by her through all of it. All women do and few get it. That's why women AND men loved her music. Amy Winehouse was brave enough to sing about all things that embarrass all of us, trouble us and stick in our minds when we are in love and alone. London and the world will never forget her. Don't think for a second that the London riots were not just a little bit about her death.

"We eat up artists like there's going to be a famine at the end."

Peta Todd's piece on magazines and feminists

Peta Todd whom I'm a big fan of wrote an interesting article for The Sun. I don't mind the Sun, all papers are the same. They will not publish anything remotely negative about Katy Perry and a few comment moderators delete ANYTHING I write but other than that they are ok for a laugh. Here is Peta's article text:

Women’s mags put more pressure on girls than
raunchy photoshoots by Peta Todd

FOR the second time in six months I was asked to appear on Newsnight.

Yes, that's right, the super-serious BBC discussion panel hosted by the even more serious Jeremy Paxman.

Last time I was representing the institution of Page 3, but last night's subject was slightly different. Feminism is in the news, mainly thanks to a brilliant book by Times columnist Caitlin Moran.

In How To Be A Woman she discusses what it is to be a woman in the modern day, the pressures put on us and expectations people have. Naturally, a number of subjects close to my heart have been stirred - and I gave my opinions in a pre-recorded interview for the show.

The word "objectification" is bandied about a lot at times like this, particularly in relation to lads' mag culture.

According to some, women are objectified by raunchy, topless photoshoots. But objectification, in my opinion, is an ugly way of saying "appreciation" - appreciation of women and the naked form.

Obsession with naked women has existed through the ages. Historically it is the focus of all forms of art. Naked girls are found in paintings, as sculptures and on vases.

The greatest writers - Shakespeare, Dickens, Lawrence - all wrote about sex and sexual women.

Today the female form is found in lads' mags and on Page 3. If the demand was not there from the public, it would not be produced.

My commentary:

Dickens did not write about sex Peta, he was pretty clean.

I'd like to respond to this but in doing so firstly state that I am looking at Peta from the position of what she does for a living and offers to the public which is her great looks. This is very good writing but Peta is missing the hypocrisy on BOTH sides. Not all Lads mags have curvy women and Peta herself while one of the most justifiably beautiful women in the world and spectacularly endowed with beautifully shaped breasts is not very curvy or hourglassy from the boobs down, she is enviably slim and column shaped. Lads mags prefer Peta's look over an hourglass or guitar shape (sounds nicer than pear shape) and rarely feature small breasted women with large hips-even trim small breasted girls with proportionately fuller behinds and hips. Lads mags will feature women with large breasts and very slim hips though. Kelly Brook is perhaps the only hourglass figure seen in the mags and she is very fine boned and slightly built unlike say a young Sophia Loren or Jane Russell who were both very Amazonian with proportionately wide posteriors and taller frames, the likes of which you'll only find today on the lovely Christina Hendricks and lads mags rarely feature her.

We only see a truly curvy hourglass figure these days if the model is VERY thin. Measurements in nearly all the lads mags issue are false as well. They all CLAIM hourglassy stats yet the eyes can see there is scant difference between the hips and the waist. Once again nothing wrong with that but THOSE numbers are just as misleading as thin models who are retouched!
Bottom line is that ALL magazines have a long way to go before we see real curves. If you want all shapes and sizes then you want the amateur market mags which feature all real women without re-touching. Peta writes well and she is a wonderful and inspiring woman but to say "I guarantee the average size and curvyness of the girls in the lads' mag will be far bigger than those inside the women's..." is emphatically and empirically false

(I take back what I wrote : Kelly Brook IS a young version of Sophia Loren or Jane Russell and like Peta an inspiration. She is not as tall or as big boned but still very close and has the best body in the entire world. My biggest complaint with lads magazines is that , while I understand they show fit girls, they should allow for more variations OF fit body types. There are many fit , not skinny small chested and/or fit girls with big bums. It would be nice if they had some tall (over 5'10) girls in as well.

Finally I love the expression "They are groaning under pseudo advice on how to find the perfect man...")

what is third wave?

Honestly? It is an opportunity for today's feminists to not be scared about where they are in this world. In love with our loved ones and interested and bewildered by our world at large we can express why.

Yes. Both the first wave and second waves of feminism made far too little a voice for poor women and women of colour when it came time to sit at the table. Feminists in the 60's and 70's slammed sex bombs like Raquel Welch, Sophia Loren, and Erica Gavin (all women who made it on their own and worked non-stop) yet how much money did these same Second wave women pay their fellow sisters who were their nannies and maids watching the farm while they went to work? Did they ever fight tooth and nail to give them healthcare, unions or a living wage? Noooooooo...they fought to live like men, get the best deal on childcare and make money(see Leslie Bennetts...barfy "feminist chauvinist mistake" ) not liberate women. Go onto MS and google "nanny" in their search engine and nearly nothing comes up.

Thankfully some third wavers like myself are now appreciating that a women like Ms. Welch cand Pam Grier can be beautiful, sexy, classy and a trailblazer without fitting into a prescribed box AND without being exploitative and trashy. many third wavers are also succinctly pointing out what SO many dating and relationship columnists gravely overlook-that men/boys these days are looking for a meal ticket and a free ride off a woman's hard earned money-even men as young as their early 20's! Third wavers don't let this happen to you!
